In our 3days vacation in VA beach last summer 2011, the Aquarium in VA was one of our major destination. One of their animal exhibits are these Komodo dragons. There’s 3 of them, namely Teman, the longest of all that is about 6 feet (2m) long, Sanchez and Ki Ki( brother – sister pair), 4.5 and 3.5 long.
Komodos are the largest lizards in the world. There’s only a few of them left, so they are pretty much endangered. They are from Indonesia, inhabit just four islands, namely Flores, Pandar, Rintja, and the largest island, Komodo. (thats where it gets its name, i guess)
They are pretty much meat eaters. And their saliva contains many strains of virulent bacteria that is believed to kill their prey by infection, so if you see a komodo, better run fast or it might get you, cause it can run up to 12 miles per hour (18 kph).
Anyhow, here in VA Aquarium, they copied their volcanic habitat in Flores Indonesia. They specifically designed those glass windows in order for sunlight to reach them. They are feeding them rodents, cause they are on a special diet. Pretty cool animal aye? My kids love to watch them at the viewing area. Below are the photos I took of VA Aquarium-Komodo Dragons

Jian checking out the Komodo. It walked away as soon as the komodo saw his head pop out. hehehe
