The Statue of King Neptune – Virginia Beach

Photos below were taken on our last day in Virginia Beach. It was such a nice day to go swimming, but we need to pack our things to head back to our daily routines. Our 3 days vacation here last summer 2011 was so awesome, and was so quick. There was so much things to do, and 3 days was not enough.

Before we head to our next destination, we strike a pose first at the statue of King Neptune. If you visit Virginia Beach, you will never miss this 34-feet Bronze Sculpture, that sits in the middle of the beach on the Boardwalk, at 31st Street by the Hilton Hotel, which is close to our Hotel. It was build on May 10, 2005, in honor of the Neptune Festival that is held every September. The creatures around King Neptune shows the wonders hidden beneath the waves., and that stern look shows that  he is not entirely pleased with the ecologically poor use of his seas, according to Paul Di Pasquale who sculpted this piece.  He sure look so magnificent and powerful. I hope this statue will remind everyone to take care of our water. :-)

And here I am looking so tan, sitting pretty in one of the benches by the boardwalk, while waiting for my men to finish surveying this majestic sculpture.
