The National Zoo in DC

Going to DC was my mom and dad last itinerary  before they went back to Philippines. The original plan was to go to the National Zoo and then to the Smithsonian Museum, but due to some uncomfortable circumstances, we only went to the Zoo.

When we arrived in the Zoo, I was disappointed because its not what I expected. It was very crowded even though it was weekdays, and there’s not much parking spots to park, lucky that we finally got one after going around in circles for a couple of times. Hubby was about to give up, and was a bit stressed of the traffic in the City, good thing a car pulled out in front of us, and had a good spot. The worst part was, there’s not much animals showing because they were doing some renovations! Hubby was no longer in the mood and was ready to go home. And he was not happy about the crowd in DC because some were so vulgar which is not good for the kids to hear and see.  I was starting to have a headache too, but I told him that before we leave the zoo, I want to see the Pandas first. I don’t know about my Mom and Dad, they seems like okay to anything, but I can see that they are getting tired too from all that long walks. But as for my kids, they had fun seeing some of the animals, like in the Kids Farm where they can pet the farm animals and feed them. And the Amazonia, where we saw some really cool fishes like the photos below…  PhotobucketThat’s a pretty ugly scary big fish right there(above photo). I believe its called Arapaima fish that lives in the Amazon River.

Photo below are my folks enjoying the view inside the aquarium of Amazonia.Photobucket

In the Amazonia Exhibit you will also find some cool birds like this Roseate spoonbill(photo below), that are not afraid to get near you. I photograph this bird as closed as this in the photo. Pretty cool aye!Photobucket

And this Titi monkey that jumps from branch to branch. Isnt he a cutie? Staring at me like saying who is this fool photographing me? lol :-D Photobucket

The National Zoo has a lot of exhibits, too bad we didnt enjoyed it that much. This place is just too small for the animals and for big crowds. Good thing they have benches everywhere in the zoo, so if you get tired of walking, you can take a break for a minute under the shades of bamboo trees, like my parents were doing in the photo below.

The National Zoo in DC is surrounded with lots bamboo trees. Its for the pandas, so they have something to munch on. In order to see the pandas, you have to wait in a long line, because theres a lot of people who like to seem them. And when its your turn to go inside to see them, you have to push your way from the people in front of you in order to get a good glimpse. PhotobucketAs I said, it was not what I expected, and I was a bit disappointed. I just took a quick snapped of the panda and run outside to get some air. whew! I don’t think I would visit this Zoo again. It was not much fun. Well, at least I was able to see the Panda and some cool animals, and was able to spend some time with my parents before they leave for Phil.

After the Zoo, we went back to the Hotel we stayed in and had a big dinner. Oh Boy! I was so hungry. lol!
